A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure that can give people with excess skin or weakened abdominal muscles due to age, pregnancy or obesity an improved look and a more youthful appearance. The procedure removes excess skin and fat and can strengthen and reposition the vertical muscles of the abdomen. A tummy tuck creates a tighter, slimmer and flatter stomach.
There are several types of abdominoplasty procedures, ranging from a full abdominoplasty, which is considered major surgery, to smaller procedures such as a mini-tummy tuck or dermolipectomy. Some clients can achieve their desired cosmetic results with liposuction alone, instead of a tummy tuck, or with a combination of liposuction and a tummy tuck.
