Recovery from an arm lift surgery will take some time. In the first days after upper arm lift surgery, there will be some discomfort, swelling and bruising, but pain medications and the use of cold compresses can help minimize these symptoms. You will be limited in your arm movements for several days after surgery, so you may need help around the house from friends and family. You will be asked to wear a compression garment on your arms to help control swelling and aid in healing.
Most people who have brachioplasty typically resume normal activities within 7 to 10 days after the procedure. However, you will be cautioned to avoid heavy lifting for at least 2 weeks after brachioplasty. You should also take measures to protect your arms from trauma during the initial recovery. This includes avoiding activities that could stress the arms, such as bowling, baseball and weight training. Your surgeon will give you specific instructions.
