What is thigh liposuction?
Thigh liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure to remove areas of fat on the thighs. In liposuction, a surgeon inserts a thin metal tube called a cannula through small incisions and breaks up deposits of fat. This loosened fat is then sucked out using a special vacuum device.

What can I expect after surgery?
In most cases, you can go home the same day as your liposuction. You will feel sore and be swollen for several days after and may have bruises in the area treated. This will resolve with time. After the surgery, take it easy and follow your doctor’s instructions on when to return to your normal activities. You will probably need to wear a special surgical garment similar to a girdle for several weeks after your surgery.

When will I be able to return to work?
It depends on how extensive your liposuction is and on how active you are on your job. If you are having a large amount of fat removed, it will take you longer to get back into your normal activities. If your job involves a lot of moving around or lifting, your doctor may decide you need to stay out longer.

When will I see results?
You will be able to see the results of your liposuction as soon as the swelling starts to resolve. Remember, although most of the swelling will be gone in a couple of weeks, there may be some swelling for several weeks or months.
