Arm liposuction patients are advised to begin walking around as soon as possible, but to avoid strenuous activities for approximately 1 month. You will have some discomfort, swelling and bruising in the first few weeks after the surgery, but this should subside. Pain or soreness can be alleviated with pain medications, and swelling and bruising can be minimized through the use of cold compresses.
You will probably be told to wear a compression garment or elastic bandaging on your arms after the procedure. The compression garment, which is sort of a girdle for your arms, or the bandaging will help to control swelling but will also assist the body in healing according to the newly defined tissue contours. Wear this according to your surgeon’s instructions.
Your surgeon can tell you when you can return to work after your surgery.
