Men had nearly 1.1 million cosmetic procedures in the United States in 2007, or 9% of the total, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). That represents an increase of 17% over 2006, a clear indication that men are vigorously embracing cosmetic surgery. Put simply, men want to look good, too!

Men are learning that an overall fit and youthful appearance can serve them well in both their professional and private lives. They're also less averse to the whole concept of plastic surgery. In fact, in a consumer attitudes survey conducted by ASAPS in 2008, 57% of men said they approve of cosmetic surgery, 20% said they would consider cosmetic surgery for themselves now or in the future, and 79% said they would not be embarrassed if people outside their immediate family and close friends knew about it.

With a few exceptions, cosmetic surgery procedures are unisex in that they can be performed on both sexes. However, the aesthetic differs depending on the patient's gender. In this section, we review some of the most popular male plastic surgery procedures:
